School Discipline
1- School Cleanliness
Teachers play an important role in maintaining school and classroom cleanliness. Teachers are requested to ask students not to litter and to clean up their classroom or area at the end of every lesson.
2- Involvement in School Activities
Teachers are encouraged to actively participate in all school activities especially the ones related to their students.
3- Gifts
Relationships between teachers and students should be friendly but formal at all times. Teachers should politely turn down all gifts and invitations from students and parents as this is against the school rules. At the same time and for the same reasons, teachers should not declare dates of "special occasions" like birthdays to students.
4- Communication with Parents
Teachers may not communicate directly with the parents or guardians of students. When parents approach teachers, they should politely tell them that the school rules require thatalldiscussionsshould be conducted during the meeting period or through the HOD.
5- Aggressive Behavior and Bullying
If students feel that they are being wronged or harassed, they should report the situation to the SG, HOD, or any other responsible adult. Rough play is not acceptable and neither is bad language.
6- Attendance and Punctuality
Students are required to attend all school days and be at school at least 5 minutes before classes start. Repeated absence will have a negative effect on their academic progress. Students arriving after 7:50 a.m. must report to reception. Students who are absent or late repeatedly with no valid excuse may be stopped from entering class.
7- Leaving Early/Arriving Late
Students are not allowed to leave the school before the end of the day unless HOD has been notified of the fact either with a written note or phone call.
Students who arrive late will not be admitted into class unless parents have informed HOD about the delay.
8- Seating Plans and Sections
Students are placed in sections and assigned according to their academic needs. Changes of seating and sections are done by the HOD only when considered to be in the best interest of the student.
9- Mobile Phones and Other Electronic Devices
The use of mobile phones and other electronic devices (except for the E-book tablets where applicable) is not allowed at school. In case of an emergency, students will be permitted to call their guardians from reception.
10- Absence and Illness
Parents need to call the school between 7:20 and 7:50 in the morning if their child is absent or late. For prolonged absence, parents are kindly requested to send a note to the office.
After an absence due to illness, parents must submit an official medical report stating the specific illness and its duration. They also need to supply the school with a note for each day of absence for other reasons.
Every effort should be made to have medical and dental appointments tended after school hours.
Parents are responsible for all the academic work that their children have missed during their absence. Please verify your child’s agenda to check for daily assignments. In some cases, please contact the office in the morning to request assignments and arrange the pick-up at the end of the school day. Kindly do not disturb teachers in their classes.
